A copywriter is a salesperson who creates your marketing materials, typing away on a keyboard, creating the copy for your – sales letters, landing pages, ads, case studies, emails, press releases, catalogue descriptions, articles, writing for the web, white pages, etc. – which you (and your sales team) use to help increase sales.

Pretty well, actually. For 11 years I’ve worked virtually—and quite successfully—with clients from Los Angeles to Australia. Truth is, 95% of my work is via phone, email and SKYPE—including phone interviews with experts and executives as well as online project-sharing. The remaining 5% is via snail mail.

No. Well we can. You can always take a holiday over here to Germany and I’ll certainly schedule you in!

But, I normally work via email, phone or SKYPE and it works quite well.

  • You brief me by e-mail, phone or SKYPE
  • I’ll write the first draft and send it to you for review
  • You provide feedback and I edit the first draft if necessary
  • Your project is not finished until you are totally happy with the result
  • When you are, I’ll send you the final copy
  • Job done.

This depends on three things – the size of the project, your deadline and my workload. But I will do everything I can to get your project to you on time… on brief… and on budget.

Larger documents take longer to complete. Projects involving a lot of research need more time. The timeframe ranges from a week to several weeks, including the initial consultation and project initiation. See <insert link – Writing Project Process> for details.

Here’s a hint: the more time you give me, the more research I can do and the better your finished project will be.If I take on your job I guarantee you will have the copy by the agree deadline.

I do not accept rush jobs. There are two reasons for this:

  1. It takes time to create quality copywriting – the kind that gets results. I will only take on a project if the timeframe allows me to deliver my very best work. You deserve nothing less.
  2. At any time I’m usually working on a few client projects. I can’t just drop everything because you need some copywriting right now.

Here’s my suggestion: as soon as you get an inkling you might need a freelance copywriter, give me a call. Then I can place your project in my schedule and give it, and my current clients, the time needed to write great copy.

I appreciate client confidentiality and I completely respect their wishes. I never discuss the details of copywriting work I do for a client or rates charged with any of my other clients. I’m happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement where appropriate.

Absolutely. Once you’ve paid your bill in full, all rights for the copy I write for you… revert to you.

At the outset of any project I go to a lot of effort to ensure I fully understand your marketing goals and how your copywriting project fits in with them. As a consequence, most of my clients are thrilled with the first draft.

The essence of writing is rewriting. The first draft you see will not be the first draft I write.

I include two sets of revisions once I hand off your first draft. These revisions options are part of my flat fee. Revisions must be requested within 14 days of your receipt of a draft of the copy, and they must not involve a change in direction, scope or format.

If you’re still not happy with the content, I want to make it right. Work with me to help me understand where the copy is not working for you and how you think it needs to be improved.

You.  I base the information on details you provide to me, or research related to your industry.  I’m not a professional in your industry, so the copy will need to be checked for accuracy.

I can’t predict how many sales or enquiries you’ll get from the copy I write for you. In fact, no reputable copywriter can.

Copywriting has the power to boost your sales. However, your sales are dependent on your overall marketing and business strategy, not only the copy.

My copy gets great results for lots of people. But your results may vary.

I do guarantee I’ll write excellent copy for you… delivered on time… and I’ll make revision (up to two times) within 14 days of draft delivery.
